James Frew’s latest apprentice recruits recently took part in the 2nd annual Beat the Boss challenge.
The ten 1st year plumbing apprentices were invited to an afternoon pipe bending competition against the company’s Managing Director, Roddy Frew at James Frew Academy – West College Scotland, Paisley.
Roddy, who was a 1st year apprentice 28 years ago at Reid Kerr College in Paisley, took on all ten employees and received the overall winner title for the 2nd time.
Reece Colquhoun, who completed the pre-apprentice course at the company before achieving a place in the programme, was awarded the top apprentice of the day.
Roddy said, ‘The Beat the Boss challenge is a really good way to get to know the apprentices in a light hearted fun environment. The task involved offsetting and bending pipe to suit an allocated model, which was then judged at the end of the day. I am really impressed with how well the apprentices took on the task and look forward to hearing how they each get on within their course.''
