James Frew Ltd, apprentices recently took on the challenge of pre-fabricating 1800 radiator tails and a number of boiler templates for an ongoing project in Edinburgh.
The Granton Harbour is a yearlong development project that will provide 132 units of one, two and three bedroom apartments including penthouse and duplexes as part of a wider masterplan. The installation is expected to commence mid-way through 2018, with the first residents expected to be able to move into the new development in 2019.
Supervised by Commercial Foreman, Eric Liddell, five apprentices completed this prefabricating stage over a 1-week period at James Frew Academy in West College Scotland, Paisley. The task included cutting & bending pipe and soldering joints to complete the radiator tail and boiler template work.
The plumbing apprentices, who have just moved on to their second year with the company, include Adam Forrest, Peter Waterson, Ryan Connelly, Jonathan Harkness & Declan Smith.
