David Swan, an experienced Maintenance Joiner who has worked for our GasSure division for almost 5 years recently took on a tougher than tough challenge all for an amazing cause.
On the 23rd of June 2018, David travelled over 250 miles to Leeds, to attend the pinnacle of obstacle racing, providing the most innovative and highest quality obstacle event in the UK, Total Warrior. With a punishing 25 extreme obstacles, including jumping over 2ft high flames of burning logs, 100s of electric wires hanging from a post, 4ft of water loaded up with 10 tons of ice and a 100m long track of mud hills up to 3 meters high.
With a large group of friends, David took on the challenge to raise money & awareness for the Stroke Association, in memory of a friend’s grandfather who heartbreakingly died of stroke related complications. With the help of friends, family, work colleagues & James Frew Ltd, David managed to raise £533, and over £1000 collectively as a group.
David said, ‘’It was tough but a great experience. Raising money for the Stroke Association was a privilege & the money will hopefully benefit those who have suffered strokes, these people are the real warriors. The level of support I have received from the company and staff is very humbling and greatly appreciated. Thank you to all of them."
Roddy Frew, Managing Director at James Frew Ltd added, ‘’James Frew was delighted to pledge £100 to help David raise money for such an important cause. Total Warrior provides the ultimate test of stamina, strength and determination. A huge well done to David – we are all very proud!’’
