The James Frew Academy “Beat the Boss” competition was held on the 30th of September at West College Scotland’s Paisley Campus. Our 1st Year Apprentices were testing their skills against Managing Director Roddy Frew in what has become an annual contest.

All our new Modern Apprentices started on the 29th of July and have been gaining valuable on-the-job training in preparation for starting their college courses. Training Co-ordinator Elaine Kean said: “We were overwhelmed with a number of applicants for our apprenticeship programmes and all the apprentices have done very well to secure the job opportunity with James Frew”.

Managing Director Roddy Frew said: “The “Beat the Boss” is a real highlight of the calendar year for me. It gives me a great opportunity to get to know our newest recruits. I was an apprentice myself and I know what it feels like to be at the start of the journey”.

The competition was won by Roddy after a tightly contested pipe bending exercise. Elaine added: “Although Roddy emerged victorious, it is getting closer each year. The “Beat the Boss” is always a popular and well supported event and our hosts West College Scotland go the extra mile to make sure everyone had a great time”.
