As part of our James Frew Academy, we are supplementing our apprenticeship programmes with additional learning on money management. We have been partnering with leading debt and budgeting experts CAP (Christians Against Poverty) to train thirty of our Modern Apprentices (MA) in how to best manage their finances.
Alan McLaren, Community Link Worker for CAP said: “We were delighted that James Frew has become the first employer in North Ayrshire to commit to working with us to train their apprentices in how to manage their finances with a CAP Money Course. We are one of the leading providers of free face-to-face financial education in the UK, and our CAP Money Course offers participants many valuable insights into how to best take control of their finances by learning how to budget, balance income and expenses and manage debt.”
Alan added: “As costs continue to rise, it’s really important to find avenues to share our skills and knowledge to support people in managing their money. Our aim is to help people stay out of debt this winter. We hope James Frew will be the first of many local businesses to take up the opportunity to offer a CAP Money course to their staff.”
Roddy Frew Managing Director of James Frew said: “Modern Apprentices are the workforce of the future and we are delighted that our James Frew Academy programmes now include money management. Our partnership with CAP provides apprentices with excellent advice and resources to take control and manage their own personal finances. The courses have been welcomed by our apprentices”
Trained CAP Money Coach, Nathan Payne commented “We know that a person’s mental health can be adversely affected when they run into financial difficulties. We believe that prevention is better than the cure and the CAP Money Course gives strategies on how people can manage their finances well and hopefully then reduce the financial pressure they could be feeling. I have really enjoyed working with the staff of James Frew to deliver this course.”
